Promotion

Whether you are a member of staff based at the University or a colleague who teaches on our courses there are opportunities for you to apply for promotion on the grounds of teaching excellence.

If employed by the University you can make a case for promotion using the University promotions scheme.

To support you evidencing your teaching excellence for promotion applications we have a number of workshops that focus specifically on building a case for promotion on grounds of teaching and learning. Further details can be found on Staffnet.

Promotion criteria

To be considered for promotion, you will need to evidence and demonstrate a sustained record of expertise in three key strategic areas:

  1. Successful teaching, including classroom delivery and related student support in respect of allocated teaching duties.
  2. Effective setting and marking of assessment including provision of feedback to students.
  3. Effective delivery of student support as required by the individual's post.

MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chair

Additionally, the position of MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chair may be conferred on a clinician who is making an outstanding contribution to their clinical profession and also a significant contribution to teaching and learning.
