Training for clinical teachers and health care professionals

If you teach on one of our undergraduate courses in nursing, midwifery or medicine there are a number of mandatory training activities that you need to complete.

Nursing and midwifery

The GM Synergy Project is a coaching style practice placement model bespoke to Greater Manchester. We support practitioners in preparing for GM Synergy Project roles through collaborative coaching resources and workshops. Further information and booking can be found at:

PRIME: Professionals in Medical Education

Staff training is an integral part of the medical school's support for the NHS and academics who work with medical students. These free workshops are open to all staff involved in teaching University of Manchester medical undergraduates. Session workshops include:

We also offer a range of development opportunities for our General Practitioners through our PRIME GP programme. All sessions are designed for new and/or experienced GP tutors who may not be familiar with the requirements of the Manchester Programme. A range of development opportunities are available, including giving effective feedback, creating an effective learning environment, teaching ethics, teaching prescribing to students and OSCE examinations.

In addition, we have developed a PRIME team session to introduce practice managers and allied healthcare professionals to the Manchester course.
